    Saab 900 Turbo Restoration

The Saab 900 Turbo is currently going through a restoration to the highest quality and a full service at 2Refinish Classic Cars, based in Hinckley, East Midlands. The Saab 900 Turbo S Cabriolet in Monte Carlo Yellow, it is a stand out iconic classic car, and rare.

In the Classic Car Workshop, the underside is being overhauled, with fabricating to any holes caused by rust and corrosion. Reconstruction of front chassis with 3 layers of fabrication. The clutch and slave cylinder are being replaced, otherwise the engine of the Saab T16S is in good working order.

New trailing arms for the rear suspension have been fitted. Also, new front and rear suspension in kit form, and bushes have been fitted using genuine Saab parts.

Rear coils, anti-roll bar, and fuel tank have been refurbished. Fuel tank has been fitted with new fuel tank straps. New front and rear discs, with refurbished calipers fitted along with new green break pipes installed.

Both doors removed and stripped, the rusty inner door bottom has been replaced with a new panel. Wheel arches and bodywork have undergone preparation for a full respray. P400 Mirka Goldflex Soft Pad was used to hand flatten the paint, and the primer was blocked using P320 Mirka Iridium on a hand block.

The outer body of the Convertible has been resprayed in its original Saab Monte Carlo Yellow. We decided to use a white base coat, as this technique makes the Yellow vibrant and stand out. The next stage is to get on with the polishing stage, perfecting the finish of the paintwork.

Finally, a new convertible hood will be fitted. This will finish the car off nicely, bringing it back to its former glory when the Saab was brand new.

Saab is well known for their build quality, and this 1992 Limited Edition (No.152) Saab 900 Monte Carlo Convertible is no exception. Generally Saabs have little or only superficial corrosion, which can be easily arrested and repaired to keep the car running for many years to come after the restoration.
